POSITION OVERVIEW

We are currently seeking a Shop Foreman / Lead Technician who is committed to delivering exceptional service, achieving clear goals, and driving team performance. This role is for a top-level technician who leads by example, takes ownership of shop operations, and maintains a high standard while developing and supporting the team within a structured, growth-oriented environment.

We are Red Deer’s leading heavy-duty truck and trailer repair shop. We provide comprehensive heavy-duty truck and trailer repair services, including CVIP inspections, full equipment maintenance, major overhauls, performance tuning, and mobile repair services.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

• #1 priority: maximize shop efficiency and repair turnaround time
• Drive team productivity, workflow, and overall shop performance
• Maintain high-quality workmanship standards across all repairs
• Lead diagnostics and provide technical guidance on complex jobs
• Ensure work is completed correctly the first time, minimizing comebacks
• Oversee daily shop operations and maintain organization and structure
• Support estimating, job flow, and invoice closing accuracy
• Maintain clear and accurate documentation across all work orders
• Actively participate in and lead daily and monthly meetings
• Foster a positive, accountable, and high-performance shop culture

KEY COMPETENCIES

• Minimum 7+ years of heavy-duty truck and trailer experience
• Journeyman Heavy Duty Technician Certification
• Commercial Vehicle Inspection License
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving ability
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and hold a team accountable
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Proficient with mobile devices, shop software, and digital documentation
• Positive, results-driven, team-oriented, and growth-minded mindset

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Class 1 or Class 3 license (preferred)
• Automotive diesel experience
• Experience with Fullbay software
• Manufacturer or specialty training
• Previous leadership or foreman experience
• Strong knowledge across major systems and components

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, and work in tight or awkward positions
• Capable of working safely under trucks, trailers, and equipment
• Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple active jobs
• Tolerance for shop conditions including noise, dust, fumes, and temperature changes
• Ability to maintain focus and attention to detail during physically demanding tasks
• Physically capable of operating heavy equipment and shop machinery safely
• Comfortable working in varying conditions, including colder temperatures during winter months
• Ability to lift, carry, and move heavy components (50–100 lbs with assistance or equipment)
• Must be able to wear required PPE (safety boots, gloves, eye, and hearing protection)
